Handmade Holidays Blog Hop

Welcome to the Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! This year we are giving you more than 80 ideas for handmade gifts for everyone in your list!

I've seen a trend of space and constellations in home decor. However, I'm not doing it because is a trend. My daughter loves astronomy and has been asking for a space room for a while so I've been making little things to match this theme. You can give this gift to: someone that needs a home decor accent, science teachers, homeschooling friends, kids, those guys that you never know what make them, etc.

Apply drops of the Clearsnap Izink on the basswood and spread it using the Clearsnap ColorBox® Color Blender. Mix different kinds of color like blues, purple, silver and opaline going around the basswood to give the illusion of a space background. Is really easy and the ink is very saturated so is a very easy to do this. The Blender is plastic, you can wash it after you are done with your project.
Find your favorite constellation online and print it big enough to fit in your surface. Rub chalk or a white colored pencil in the back of the paper. I prefer white pencil because is less messy and I don't have to clean up after I'm done. Make sure you get all the stars covered. Use Tombow Mono Adhesive Removable on the paper to keep it in the same place.

Use the Tombow Mono Drawing Pencil to trace the stars in the front of the paper. I like using a ruler to follow the lines but if your hand is steady you can follow the lines on the paper. Then draw the lines directly on the basswood using the white Tombow Recycled Colored Pencil.
Apply the Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue in the stars. Let dry for a few minutes until the glue is clear.
After the glue dries rub the Clearsnap Designer Foils- Winter Sky in the stars. Write the name of the most important stars and the constellation using the white Tombow Recycled Colored Pencil. I added a few dots with the Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue in Orion and then used the Clearsnap Designer Foils- Winter Sky. I love lettering but since my daughter is only 6 I thought this would be more appropriate, specially for these strange names.

This year I have started making sets of cards and plan on making several sets with coordinating boxes to give as handmade gifts for my mother, sister and sister-in-law.
I also have a special canvas planned to surprise my husband for our anniversary ... not sure if it will be done in time for this year though, keeping my inky fingers crossed :)
